Another Pumpkin Patch

My girlfriend called Friday morning for an inpromtu playdate at one of Flower Mound's Pumpkin Patch. Well actually we were headed to Colleyville first but the other moms who got their first to a closed patch. So we decided to go to FM. It was crowded but we all had a great time. Some of us packed lunches so we could eat there, save money, and the let the little ones fall asleep on the way home. John David is the oldest with three little girls who are about a year younger. I think all the girls have a crush on him! (My friends keep telling me that he will take all of them to their proms!)

John David was a great trooper to take some of the girls and Drew through the hay maze more than once. John David was the tallest so he was easy to spot. Natalee had a navy bow which stood out against the hay and Kensley had two cute little orange bows. I never saw Drew until they all emerged at the end. I appreciate John David being so willing to help take care of others including his brother. Meredith is walking with the boys as we left the hayride to go jump.

We got to take a hay ride and jump in the bounce houses. Drew got upset because he couldn't follow John David into every thing! He also cried when I told him it was time to go. John David was good to listen when it was time to go. We ate lunch (with some bees) before heading home.

Drew was asleep within 5 minutes of leaving! (Sonic was calling my name on the way home!) After we got home, John David even took a nap!

Pumpkin Patch & Big Blue Choo-Choo

This morning was the Pumpkin Patch with the Big Blue Choo-Choo at school! It is always a fun, busy, and exciting day at school! The boys each rode the train with their classmates. I finally got to ride with John David in the end. A pumpkin prayer was read to each class as a pumpkin was carved. Each child got to pick out a pumpkin to take home! There were cute "photo spots" for the parents & teachers to snap photos. You can see my soons were oh so cooperative. :)

Over 5 years ago David and I agreed on naming our first born John David. John was after David's uncle that he never knew but was always told he looked like. David was, of course, after David. I always wondered if he would change his name or prefer a nickname.

The time has come that John David isn't liking his name. It is not that he doesn't like his name but isn't liking writing ALL of his name. I have asked him if he prefered to be called "John" or "Johnny" instead but he always insisted that his name was "John David." Grandma and Grandpa are the only ones allowed to call him "Johnny."

Now that he is writing his name more than once a day in preschool, he is getting tired of writing all 9 letters. Ms. Christy and I have a great relationship and enjoy discussing this on the playground daily. She reminds him that his crazy mom gave him a long name to write on his pages. He has tried to write "Jo" and even "JoJo." I do not like "Jo" or worse "JoJo!" After mucn encouragement and almost threatning, he has decided on a new name, at least, in school- "John." I think he is enjoying writing less letters. But he will always be my John David!

Here is a picture of him on Monday after taking dinner to the Mahone's. He helped me prepare most of dinner and the rested instead of napping. It was too cute not to take a picture of him. :)

Pink or Blue?

No, I am not expecting but Joel & Christy are expectng their first child in March. (Their best friends are expecting twins in March, too.) This morning they went to their sonogram to find out the sex of their baby. I have been hoping for a boy since I have two and lots of clothes to pass down. But of course God is always in control and knows what is best! It looks like we are adding a girl into family! I finally get to buy little girl clothes! My brother gets to pay for a wedding! ;)

One day, we can dress the grandkids in matching clothes for pictures. How does that sound Aunt CC? My boys can be her big brothers and check out her boyfriends before her dad can get a hold of them. But that means you have to move closer!

The coolest present ever...

My birthday was a week ago but I haven't been able to post this present because my sister was getting one, too. It was a present I never imagined receiving and brought me to tears as I opened it!

This was my present:

The plaque says "This flag was flown in honor of Anna R. Weston on September 30, 2007 in the skies of Iraq and Afganastan." (I don't know how to rotate the pic. I downloaded it horizontal three times!)

My brother, Joel, is a captain in the Air Force and was stationed in Quatar last fall for over 4 months. While he was there, he flew missions into several different countries carrying various cargo including people, back-hoes, etc.

Here is part of the email he sent explaining our flags:

Happy Birthday to both of you. By now, you should have opened your birthday present and if you are still waiting...shame on you. This idea came to me some time last year after I first starting flying over there. Knowing I would likely be flying on each of your birthdays, I put two flags in my bag and waited to see how the schedule played out. As you now know, I indeed flew on your respective birthdays.

Anna, on your birthday, I transported supplies and equipment for V-22 Offsprey from Al Asad, Iraq to Bagram, Afghanistan. The V-22 is the tilt-rotor aircraft that looks like an airplane with two rotors that tilt up to takeoff and land like a helicopter. I have two pictures of your flag. One if of my crew outside in Afghanistan and one is of me under the flag once it was hung.

Leah, on your birthday, we carried armored street vehicles from the capital city of Iraq (Bagdad) to the capital city of Afghanistan (Kabul). My crew took a picture under your flag while on the jet. I was honored to fly on these important days and I want you to know you were with me in spirit as I thought of the two of you.

Our Weekened

My parents came into town for 24 hours to celebrate my 32 birthday, as well as, my sister's 26 birthday. Mine was 9/30 and Leah's is 10/7. How fun to celebrate with my sis since she is close now.

Mom, Dad, and Leah got in Friday night in time for David and I to enjoy dinner out by ourselves. YEA! On Saturday we went to the hospital to see my cousin Aaron and his new baby. Aaron ("Hutch") and Caroline welcomed James Riley "JR" Kawika Hutcherson on Wednesday evening. We are so excited about the name since James & Hutcherson are family names. ;) (Drew has the other family name-Edwards.) We went to lunch after a little shopping which was a lot of fun. Afterwards we came home to watch Baylor get beat on TV. Baylor did score more than once! I slept through part of the game before heading to Chuck E. Cheese for a party with John David. Has anyone ever been there on a Saturday? It was crazy busy! John David had a great time eating and playing games. We also came home with a pirate patch, candy, and a bug besides a goody bag.
